Irish Exporters Association Environmental Policy
To ensure that the natural environment is preserved and protected for future generations, The Irish Exporters Association is working towards a sustainable economic and social development, thus maintaining and improving the quality of life.  As an Organisation with responsibility for members who have a major impact on the local area, they have the ability to raise environmental awareness and improve environmental performance both within their organisation and the community at large.  Through working with Udaras na Gaeltachta and the Department of the Environment they help cut pollution, reduce waste and conserve precious natural resources.

The IEA will seek to:
• Forge partnerships with other organisations to promote the ecological and physical health of the county
• Continually seek to achieve improvements in environmental performance and the Council’s impact on the community
• By developing and environmental management system based on ISO 14001 and integrating environmental stewardship into the Best Value process, seek to improve environmental performance in the delivery of the IEA services.
• Raise environmental awareness and encourage the community to under take projects, which will enhance the quality of their lives.
• Develop and environmental education policy.

The IEA will seek to:
• Co-ordinate and operate an environmental management system throughout its organisation
• Train and educate staff and elected Members in respect of the organisations environmental policies and objectives

Food Chains for Competitive Advantage
Under the recruitment of companies taking part in the Food Chains For Competitive Advantage programme we will be encouraging all companies to work towards seeking Origin Green certification with Bord Bia.

Origin Green is a unique sustainability development programme developed by Bord Bia – The Irish Food Board - to demonstrate the commitment of Irish food and drink manufacturers to operating sustainably.

It is founded on evidence based performance and commitment to further improvement of farming and manufacturing in areas such as, greenhouse gas emission, energy conservation, water management, biodiversity, community initiatives and health and nutrition. 

At the heart of Origin Green is a a sustainability charter that will commit participants to engage directly with the challenges of sustainability.
