Meet the Consultants

After our tender process we interviewed five of the seven consultants who tendered for the FCCA mentoring programme. The five who were intereviewed were marked on a scoring card out of ten for various different elements and the two who scored the highest were choosen to be our product development assitance mentors. Below is a short introduction to both:

1. Marla.ie

Originally a design agency, marla.ie has evolved into a leading training and marketing agency in Ireland.
They work closely with Enterprise Boards nationwide to provide effective mentoring assistance to start up and existing companies.
The team at Márla.ie currently provide invaluable support to a client base of over one hundred and fifty companies nationwide.
Specifically within the food & drink industry, Márla.ie has assisted companies such as Sunshine Juice, Noirin’s Bakehouse, Mallons, JM Foods and Tipperary Organic to develop their branding, marketing and distribution capabilities.
They also provide fully integrated marketing and design solutions to a wide range of small and large clients including Neven Maguire, Superquinn, Portobello School, The Irish Exporters Association, Technical Institutions, County Councils and Enterprise Boards.

The Marla.ie team:

MD Shiela Gallogly: Shelia has over eighteen years business experience in the areas of sales and marketing and strategy development.
She has worked with companies, such as Irish Distillers, Master foods and Nestle.
Sheila believes that the success of Márla.ie to date, stems from the ability to identify and solve clients’ business problems, and develop optimum marketing and communication strategies that enable them to achieve business goals.
Sheila completed her MBA at Waterford Institute of Technology, and obtained a degree in European Business Studies from Coleraine University. Sheila also has a certificate in Languages and Marketing awarded by the Institute of Technology Sligo.

Marketing Developer Ann Marie Coonan: Ann Marie graduated from the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business in 2003 with an MSc. in Marketing Practice. She also spent a number of years studying at Waterford Institute of Technology were she graduated with a Degree in Business Studies and a Diploma in Languages and Marketing.
She has used her marketing expertise to facilitate the launch and development of a start-up organisation called Good4U Food and Drink Company, based in Northern Ireland.
Ann Marie has also worked for Glenpatrick Spring Water a leading innovative private label producer, where she carried out a range of marketing activities.

Strategic Director John Hickey: John has over twenty-five years experience in the Irish and UK Food Industries.
John has assisted countless food companies to successfully bring their products to market.
John sits on the board of a number of food manufacturing companies.
He has qualifications in Marketing, Psychology and Law.

Senior Graphic Designer Lee Grace:  Lee graduated from Waterford Institute of Technology with a Diploma in Design and Communication in 2004.
Lee has over ten years experience in graphic design, and brings extensive experience and creativity to the team.
Lee has worked with a diverse range of clients including the Kilkenny Arts Council, Portobello School, The Waterford County Enterprise Board and Southeast Business Magazine.
His main speciality is bespoke illustration and he has produced and developed numerous illustrated publications.

NPD Consultant Liam Doyle: Liam has worked in the food technology and product development sector for over 20 years in Ireland and the UK.
Some of this clients are Marks & Spencer, Tesco and Lily O Brien’s.

2. Ronan O'Farrell & Peter Madden

Ronan O Farrell: Providing consultancy services to the food Industry since 1998 – initially marketing and business development but since 2008 has expanded to include Innovation and NPD Management.
Worked with over 200 companies.
Worked extensively with pre-start up companies.
Part time lecturer in UCC.

Peter Madden: Consultancy business since 2002 – specialising in the provision of marketing / business development service to SME food companies.
15 years in Marketing and NPD roles with Dairygold.
Worked as Technology Marketing Manager for Moorepark.
Works with UCC (Part time Lecturing, EI, Intertrade Ireland)
