Camelina Oil showcased at IEA Stand at Ploughing Championship 24th September, by NewGrange Gold based in the Boyne valley Meath.

The Irish Exporters Association Chief Executive John Whelan, today (Tuesday 24th September) announced on the IEA stand at the Ploughing Championship that Newgrange Gold a leading producer of rapeseed oil, had successfully developed a 100% guaranteed Irish Camelina Oil which is showcased here today.

John Whelan speaking at the Ploughing Championship stated; ‘’Newgrange Gold’s range of  Camelina Oil is grown and produced on their family farm in the heart of the Boyne Valley, Co. Meath. It is 100% traceable as it is grown, pressed and bottled entirely on their farm. Newgrange Gold are the only producers of Camelina Oil in Ireland this is a meaningful USP that will be used to position the company and product range and it is the product Newgrange Gold will open to develop as part of the FCCA programme Newgrange Gold.

John Rogers; owner of Newgrange Gold said at the event;’’Our Camelina has been grown in the Boyne region, cold pressed and bottled on our farm. Also known as "wild Flax", Camelina is much more suited to bottling than flax oil due to its stability. Camelina retains its high nutritional content throughout its 12-16 month shelf life, and also has a smoke point of up to 246 degrees centigrade and is suitable for cooking at low to moderate heat. This makes the oil suitable for a large number of recipes as well as dipping, drizzling or making dressings. This product was winner of the most sustainable/ environmental product at SHOP in the RDS. It has been awarded a three star Great Taste Award by the Guild of Fine Foods 2013.’’

Newgrange are participating in the Food Chains for Competitive Advantage (FCCA)  programme  which  is  funded assistance  by  the EU’s European Regional Development Fund and supported by Bord Bia . It has been developed by the Irish Exporters Association and  is geared to support 25 Irish food and drink companies to create and launch a range of new products for the export market and will assist innovative companies to overcome some of the barriers to more rapid new innovative products creation and release to market.

John Whelan stated;‘’Newgrange Gold  is a growing family business and has been in existence as a farm for many decades , supplying premium quality rapeseed oil , camelina oil, chili garlic and garden herbs .  The company has driven significant sales growth and new product creation over the last 5 years, through continued focus on quality, innovation, service and strong retailer relationships.

I am confident that the companies new product Camelina Oil will sell well both here and on export markets ‘’
