Workshop 6 - Food Law

The FCCA project had its final workshop on Thursday last, the 18th of July, in the Radisson BLU on Golden Lane, Dublin 8.

The workshop was chaired by Maree Gallagher, Maples and Calder, with presentations on the following:

General Introduction to Food Law - Maree Gallagher, Maples & Calder

Food Information Regulation (labelling regualtion changes) - Deirdre Kennedy, FSAI

Who's, what's, why's of UK Enforcement - Hilary Ross, DWF London

Country of Origin Labelliing - Maree Gallagher

Crisis Management Planning - Maree Gallagher

The workshop was open to all food and drink companies in Ireland. It was very well received by attendees who rated the speakers very highly in their feedback forms.

The resounding key issue to come out of the workshop was that the new FIR regulations are very large and complex, and food and drink FBO's need to be prepared for their implementation, in 18 months time. There are still many issues which the commission need to give direction on and so it is difficult for the FSAI to give definite direction and answers as of now.

A huge thank you to Maree Gallagher, Hilary Ross and Deirdre Kennedy for making the day extremely informative and interesting.
